Melanie C plays the O2 Ritz on Wednesday 21 October, her Manchester date on a run that also takes in Glasgow, London and Birmingham. It's her ninth studio album, Sweat, that she's touring, which she describes as her most euphoric to date and says celebrates joy, movement and community.
Since her Sporty Spice days, she's released six albums and headlined nine tours — more than she did during her time in the Spice Girls. As a solo artist she brings a different energy, with an air of authenticity, vulnerability and rawness, and a repertoire that spans dance tracks, alternative pop and electro. Sweat sits at the intersection of that pop legacy and her more recent evolution as a DJ, so the set should pull from both.
