A night of indie-sleaze and bratty pop with drag artist Koko Popperz selecting the tunes.
Jeans And A Nice Top is back at New Century on Saturday 17 October, a strictly indie disco night built for the 'absolute menaces'. The whole thing is called Jeans And A Nice Top for a reason: there's no dress code required, you just show up in your best jeans and a nice top.
Drag artist Koko Popperz is selecting the tunes, and the set draws on a wide range of artists. You'll hear bratty pop, electro-clash anthems and handpicked indie sleaze, with the selection pulling from M.I.A., Charli XCX, Madonna, Grimes, Robyn, The Ting Tings, Goldfrapp, Peaches, La Roux, Kesha, Gossip, Moloko, Santigold, MGMT, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Sugababes, CSS, Girls Aloud, Uffie, Cascada, Scissor Sisters, Rihanna, Justice, SOPHIE, Marina, Gwen Stefani, Crystal Castles, Le Tigre, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Little Boots, Sky Ferreira, Amy Winehouse, Nelly Furtado, Lily Allen, Kate Nash, LCD Soundsystem, Electric Six and Sleigh Bells. It's a broad reach, crossing from the dancefloor-ready pop of Britney and Lady Gaga to the more jagged, electro-leaning sounds of SOPHIE, Justice and Crystal Castles, with a good deal of the mid-2000s indie-dance era in between.
