A chamber music concert by the Hera Piano Trio, featuring the programme 'Victorian Ghosts and Daggers', part of the Rush Hour series at Stoller Hall.
Hera Piano Trio play Stoller Hall on Thursday 15 October, as part of the Rush Hour Concerts series. The programme is Victorian Ghosts and Daggers, and the trio consists of Caterina Bordoni on violin, Maya Tucker on cello, and Winnie Su on piano.
They take their name from Hera, the Greek goddess of women, and they make a point of championing female composers by programming their music alongside core repertoire in every show. It's a specific mission that runs through everything they do, rather than just a one-off thing. The trio was selected for the Haworth Emerging Young Artists Scheme at Stoller Hall, and their sound has been described as 'sparkling and engaging'. Since they formed, they've worked under the guidance of internationally renowned chamber musicians including Hannah Roberts, Kathryn Stott, Petr Prause, Pavel Fischer, Harvey Davis and Jeremy Young. They were finalists at the 2024 CAVATINA Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition and have performed at the Wigmore Hall.
There's a bit of history in the instruments, too. Caterina Bordoni plays a 1790 Gaetano Santagiuliana violin from Vicenza, Italy, given to her by the Harrison-Frank Family Trust. All three are committed pedagogues, so they're as much about teaching as they are about performing.
