Hands-on Workshop: Candle Painting

The Lab at Aviva Studios is hosting a candle painting workshop on Sunday 20 December, from 2pm to 4pm. It's a free session, though you'll need to book your place in advance.

Each person gets three taper candles to paint, so you'll leave with a small set of your own rather than just one. The whole thing is curated and run by The Creative Tangent, and it's a free-form creative session, meaning you can take your painting in whatever direction you like rather than following a strict set of instructions. If you've never painted on a candle before, it's a good way to try it out without needing to bring any of your own supplies.

The workshop is part of Aviva Studios' festive programme, which brings together local choirs, bands and workshops under one roof. It's set up as a place to take a break from the Christmas shopping and settle in with a hot chocolate, so it works as a standalone activity or as a stop-off if you're already out in the city that day.

It runs for two hours, from 2pm to 4pm, at The Lab, Aviva Studios, St John's, Manchester, M3 4JQ. Tickets are free, but you'll need to book ahead to get a spot.
