The RNCM Session Orchestra transforms disco anthems into powerful orchestral creations, with The Prior as support act.
The RNCM Session Orchestra are taking over the RNCM Theatre on Saturday 31 October, with the support act The Prior opening the night. The main set is built around disco anthems refashioned as orchestral arrangements, with the original songs rearranged for a full orchestra and soloists from the RNCM's Pop Department. Musical director Callum Au leads the ensemble.
The setlist pulls from the disco era's big names, with tracks from Chic, Gloria Gaynor and Diana Ross. Among the songs they'll be playing are 'Disco Inferno', 'I Will Survive', 'Le Freak' and 'Everybody Dance' — the kind of songs that usually live on a dancefloor, here worked out for a full orchestral sound. It's a night of those familiar melodies played back through a different set of instruments.
