A live episode of the Dream Space podcast hosted by Gemma Cairney with special guest Asim Chaudhry, featuring a podcast recording followed by a short Q&A.
Asim Chaudhry joins Gemma Cairney for a live recording of Dream Space at Selfridges on Friday 16 October, from 6.30 to 8pm. It's a Factory International podcast that Cairney hosts, and this is one of the episodes she's taking out of the studio and in front of an audience.
If you've never come across the show, the premise is simple: Cairney takes her guests into an imaginary, limitless space and asks what kind of art the world needs now. It's a conversation that starts with that question and goes wherever it leads. The live format works the same way: the podcast is recorded with the audience there, and once the recording wraps, there's a short Q&A where you can get involved.
Cairney is a multi-award-winning broadcaster, author and activist, and she's had a long run of high-profile guests on the show. Ai Weiwei, Marina Abramovic, Zawe Ashton, Max Porter, Nish Kumar, Es Devlin, Maxine Peake and David Hoyle have all sat across from her. Her radio work includes the BBC 6 Music documentary series The Leisure Society and the BBC Radio 4 series The Sound Odyssey; her shows Tempted By Teacher and Bruising Silence won two Sony Golds, and her Grace Jones interview, Amazing Grace, took home the Best Music Show Rose d'Or. She's also written two books: her debut Open came out in 2017, and The Immortal Sisterhood was later adapted into a live show.
