Cat Power performs her album The Greatest live at Albert Hall for its 20th anniversary, accompanied by a special all-star band.
Cat Power plays Albert Hall on Wednesday 4 November, performing The Greatest in full for its 20th anniversary. The album came out in 2006 and is one of the defining records of her career, built around haunting, soulful tracks like the title song, 'Living Proof', 'Could We' and 'Lived in Bars'. It sat at #26 on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Albums of the 2000s and earned a Brit Award nomination for Best International Female Solo Artist.
Cat Power is the stage name of singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, and for this tour she's bringing back the band she toured with originally. The line-up is Dirty Delta Blues: Judah Bauer of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Gregg Foreman of The Delta 72 and Jesse Malin, Erik Paparozzi of Lizard Music, and Jim White of Dirty Three and Hard Quartet. It's a proper band for a record that relies as much on the groove as the songwriting.
To mark the anniversary, she also released Redux, a three-track EP recorded by GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer and longtime collaborator Stuart Sikes at Church House Studios in Austin, Texas, with that same all-star supergroup. It includes a new version of James Brown's 'Try Me', a track she first cut during the original sessions but never finished, alongside a reimagining of 'Could We' and a rendition of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U'.
