Acoustic project Arms & Hearts, led by Manchester musician Steven Millar, performs live at The Lodge at Deaf Institute.
Arms & Hearts play The Lodge at Deaf Institute on Wednesday 14 October, starting at 7:00 PM. It's a Manchester project led by musician Steven Millar, who started it back in 2015. The name itself came from a bit of a practical problem: he realised 'The Steve Miller Band' was already taken, so he went with Arms & Hearts instead.
They're playing on the back of their second album, The Future is Not Bright, which came out on 10 October — just four days before this date. It's a wide release, out through Thousand Islands Records in Canada, Mt Crushmore in the US, Never Meant in Ireland, and UTB Manchester here at home. That's the new material they'll be working from, and it follows their debut, The Distance Between.
What started as Millar's acoustic project has since grown into a two-piece, with Sam Johnson on drums. Over the years they've toured and shared stages with Carl Barat, Nervus and Chris Farren, and played festivals like Fest in Gainesville, Pouzza in Canada and the Manchester Punk Festival. This show brings them back to the city where it all began, with the new record barely a few days old.
