Alice Cooper, the 'Godfather of Shock Rock', discusses his life and career in an intimate evening built around his autobiography 'Devil on My Shoulder', with guest moderator Clair Sturgess.
Alice Cooper comes to the Opera House Manchester on Friday 16 October, as part of his Devil on My Shoulder book tour. It's not a concert — there's no band and no stage show this time. Instead, it's an evening built around his new autobiography, Devil on My Shoulder, which he describes as his long-awaited definitive account of his life and career.
Cooper has been at the heart of rock and roll history for more than six decades, and this is the first time he's sat down to tell the whole story. He's known as the 'Godfather of Shock Rock', a name that points to the theatrical, often macabre stage shows he built his reputation on, but the book goes beyond the costumes. He talks about the highs and lows of being a rock icon and a theatrical pioneer, the parts of the job that happened offstage as much as the ones that didn't.
He won't be doing it alone. He's joined on stage by guest moderator and Absolute Radio host Clair Sturgess, who'll lead the conversation through the years. The whole thing is an intimate evening, with the book as the starting point for Cooper to look back on his life in music.
