Lecture by Professor Dr Sandra Wachter on how law and public policy must evolve to make artificial intelligence socially beneficial, part of the Heilbron Lecture Series.
Professor Dr Sandra Wachter is speaking at Freshfields on Tuesday 24 November, as part of the seventh edition of the Heilbron Lecture Series. The series is hosted by Freshfields and presented by Next 100 Years, an organisation that celebrates and advances women in law. It returns this year following a strong response to last year's edition.
Wachter is an internationally recognised expert in AI governance, technology regulation and digital ethics. Her talk will look at how law and public policy need to evolve to make artificial intelligence socially beneficial, and she'll be working through some of the most pressing issues the technology raises: algorithmic bias, misinformation, accountability and human rights. It's a broad remit, but those are exactly the things that tend to get lost when the conversation around AI stays at the surface level.

The session runs for three hours in person and closes with a short Q&A, so there's room to ask questions rather than just listen. It's held at Freshfields, 100 Bishopsgate, London EC2P 2SR, from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets are £15 per person for general admission, and the profits go to Next 100 Years' work.
