Damien Rice plays the Lyceum Theatre with his 'O' 25th Anniversary Tour, revisiting the songs from his 2002 debut album.
Damien Rice plays the Lyceum Theatre on Monday 19 April 2027, as part of his 'O' - 25th Anniversary Tour. The show starts at 8:00 PM, and the venue is at 21 Wellington St, London.
The tour is built around O, the debut album he released on his own label in February 2002. It was a home-recorded affair, written, recorded and produced by Rice himself, and funded by a loan from his father that only had to be repaid if the record was finished. His second cousin, the composer David Arnold, lent him equipment and belief to get it over the line. At the time, Rice thought it would be the only record he'd ever make. Instead, its confessional songwriting and stripped-back sound earned critical acclaim and helped shape a wave of introspective singer-songwriters throughout the 2000s.
Since then, he's become known for writing music only when he feels he has to, which is why songs from O like 'The Blower's Daughter' and 'Cannonball' have remained so central to his work. He hasn't released a studio record since 2014's My Favourite Faded Fantasy, and live he's often described as seeming to live through each song again every time he performs it.

It's a long way from how it started. Before the record, the Irish singer-songwriter walked away from a record deal to farm in Tuscany and busk across Europe, returning to Ireland in 1999 with little more than songs to his name. The 'O' - 25th Anniversary Tour brings that debut back to the stage, with the London date at the Lyceum Theatre on Monday 19 April 2027, starting at 8:00 PM.
