Retro gaming night with Pac-Man, Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat on original consoles and CRT screens, with drinks against the London skyline.
16-BIT Sky Bar takes over the PocketSquare Skyline Bar and Terrace on Tuesday 27 October, from 6pm to 11:30pm. It's the ninth floor of the Hyatt Place London City East at 45 Whitechapel Road, near Aldgate East, so you'll be gaming with the London skyline as your backdrop.
The night is part of REZtron's 'Retrotainment' series, which they describe as a social that throws guests back to the golden era of 80s and 90s video games, complete with iconic tunes, period fashion and nostalgic gaming. The playables are the classics: Pac-Man, Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Sonic 2, Virtua Fighter and Donkey Kong. They're run on original consoles and shown on authentic CRT TVs and projector screens rather than modern flatscreens, so it's the real thing, not an emulation. There are speedrun competitions on the night, and drinks to have in between.
REZtron has been running in London since June 2013 and this is one of several retro gaming events they put on, alongside Sky High Retro Gaming, Retro Gaming Brunch and Retro Gaming x Silent Disco. The venue itself, PocketSquare, is available for private hire for corporate activities or special occasions, with packages from £600 for up to six hours.
