Shipwrecked Comedy Open Mic

Shipwrecked Comedy Open Mic is back at The Hold The Shipping Forecast on Tuesday 17 November, starting at 19:00. It's a proper open mic, which means anyone who turns up can sign up and test their material live in front of an audience. If you've got a few bits you've been working on and want to see how they land, this is exactly the kind of night for it.

Each act gets five minutes of stage time, and the night is built on that kind of unpredictability. You'll get seasoned regulars who've done this a hundred times mixed in with first-timers stepping up for the first time. Because it's an open mic, there's no fixed line-up to check in advance — the bill is made up of whoever decides to sign up on the night, so you never quite know who's going to walk on stage next.

That's the whole point of it: you're seeing comedy in its rawest form, with new material being tried out in real time. Some of it will land, some of it will be a work in progress, and that's part of the draw. It's less about a polished show and more about the process of getting a set right.

The night runs from The Hold The Shipping Forecast, 15 Slater Street, Liverpool, L1 4BW, and kicks off at 19:00 on Tuesday 17 November.
