Weekly open mic night where anyone can sign up for five minutes of stage time to perform comedy.
Shipwrecked Comedy are running a weekly open mic night at The Shipping Forecast in Liverpool, starting Tuesday 20 October 2026 and continuing every Tuesday through to 6 July 2027. It's a long run, so if you miss one week, there's another the following Tuesday for the rest of the winter and spring.
The format is as open as it gets: anyone who turns up can sign up for five minutes of stage time and give it a go in front of the room. That's the whole of it — five minutes to get your act across, no matter where you're starting from. It's a night for people testing out new material, first-timers getting their first few minutes under their belt, and anyone who just wants to see what happens when you put a microphone in front of a room.
Because it's an open mic, the line-up changes every single week. You'll get a mix of regulars and people who've never stepped on a stage before, and since anyone can sign up on the night, you never quite know who's going to turn up. The Shipping Forecast is known for its supportive audience, which is the kind of room you want when you're putting something new out there.
