Night of Latin music with two DJs playing salsa, bachata, reggaeton and dembow, with dance classes.
Rumba Latina comes to FUSION on Friday 23 October, taking over the venue from 8 pm right through until 3 am. It's a long one, so if you're planning to stay for the whole thing, you'll want to pace yourself.
Two Latin DJs are on the decks, and they're not sticking to just one style. The night runs through salsa, bachata, reggaeton and dembow, with more mixed in as it goes. If you're only familiar with one of those, it's a good chance to hear the others side by side. The salsa and bachata bring the classic partner dance side of things, while reggaeton and dembow lean into the heavier, urban beats that have come out of the Caribbean.
One thing that sets this apart from a standard club night is that dance classes are included. You don't have to arrive already knowing your way around the dance floor; you can pick up the basics on the night and then put them into practice once the DJs take over. It makes it a bit easier to jump in if you've never danced Latin styles before.
