Performers' workshop led by Harvey Robinson on confident sight-reading of audition material at the Royal Court Theatre Studio.
Harvey Robinson is running a sight-reading workshop at the Royal Court Theatre on Thursday 22 October, down in the Studio in the basement. It's part of the Royal Court Performers' Workshops, which are aimed at graduates, working actors, and anyone returning to performance. The whole series is built around building confidence and getting practical experience in a supportive setting, so it's as much about the room as the work.
This particular session focuses on sight-reading, but it sits within a wider October programme that looks at the audition process from a few different angles. Alongside sight-reading, the other workshops this month tackle audition material with limited preparation time, and the choosing, preparing, and performing of monologues in an audition setting. If you're prepping for a run of auditions, you can pick the one that hits your weakest spot, or work through the lot.
Robinson is an actor, composer, and tutor who's worked across theatre, TV, and radio, including the BBC and Channel 4, and has performed in the West End, on Broadway, and on national tours. He's coming at this from the inside, so the session is led by someone who knows exactly what's happening on the other side of the table.

The workshop is held in the Royal Court's 150-seat Studio, the smaller space in the basement of the main theatre on Roe Street. Spaces are limited to ten per session, so it stays a small group rather than a crowded room. One-to-one coaching is also available if you want something more tailored. The session runs on Thursday 22 October at the Royal Court Theatre, Roe Street, Liverpool.
