Screening of five short documentaries by Merseyside filmmakers from the Mersey Film Unit project, with the filmmakers present for a post-film Q&A.
Mersey Film Unit is showing five short documentaries at FACT on Tuesday 8 December, with the filmmakers staying on for a Q&A afterwards. The screening is in The Box on the ground floor, 88 Wood Street, and it's part of FACT's Community Cinema programme, which supports artists, independent filmmakers, charities, film clubs and arts organisations.
The films come from five Merseyside creatives: Amina Atiq, Dylan Cubbin, Jayne Lawless, Jane MacNeil and Ed Rimmer. All five will be there for the post-film Q&A, so you'll be able to ask them about their work once the credits roll. The screening itself runs for about 50 minutes, with the Q&A starting at 19:20.
Mersey Film Unit is a long-term documentary project run by the independent film company Shut Out The Light Films, and its whole point is capturing the region on film. For this showcase, local artists were invited to observe the region as they see it, drawing on personal archives and observational street scenes to present Merseyside from several different perspectives. It's a local project in every sense: local filmmakers, local subjects, and a local audience.
