18+ Halloween clubbing night with alternative 80s post-punk and new wave music, with costumes encouraged, in the Arts Club's Loft.
Just Like Heaven: Alt 80's Halloween Night takes over the Arts Club on Saturday 31 October, with Throwback Events putting together a night built around the alternative side of the 1980s. It's an early one, running from 5pm to 9pm, so you'll be home long before the midnight rush. Last entry is 8pm, which is worth keeping in mind if you're coming from work or spending the afternoon getting your costume sorted.
The music is the whole point here. They're digging into the 80s underground, from post-punk anthems to the shimmering new wave that came after. The names they've listed give you a good sense of the territory: The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo & The Bunnymen, New Order, Depeche Mode and The Smiths. It's the kind of set that works whether you're in the mood to sway on the dancefloor or just brood with a drink in your hand.
One thing that sets this apart from a standard club night is the setup. The event is held in the newly refurbished Loft of the Arts Club, and a single ticket gets you into two rooms: Room 1 is Just Like Heaven, the alternative 80s focus, and Room 2 is Elder Emo, for when you want to switch gears. You can drift between the two as the night goes on, so you're not locked into one sound for the whole session.

It is Halloween, so costumes are highly encouraged, though not compulsory. The night is strictly 18+, and they're firm on the door: no ID, no entry, so make sure you've got yours on you. Tickets are £11 to £13.20, and the whole thing runs from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday 31 October at the Arts Club, 90 Seel Street, Liverpool L1 4BH.
