Beginner's in-store crochet workshop to learn double and treble stitches and make a granny square, suitable for ages 14 and over.
Hobbycraft is running a beginners guide to crocheting a granny square in Liverpool on Saturday 31 October. It's a 90-minute in-store workshop led by a Hobbycraft colleague, and it's pitched as an introduction to the fundamentals of crochet: double-stitching, treble-stitching, creating chains and working in rows to make tension squares. You'll get a craft kit on the day to take home, so you can keep going once you've left.
It's suitable for complete beginners, so you don't need to have ever picked up a hook before to join in. The session is for ages 14 and over, and the focus is on getting the basics right rather than rushing through a finished project. People who've done it describe a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with patient, helpful tutors and plenty of yarn to continue practising afterwards, which is exactly what you want when you're learning something new from scratch.

It costs £29, and you'll walk away with your own kit to keep the momentum going at home. The workshop is 90 minutes long, and since it's run in-store, it's a good way to get a handle on the basics without having to figure it all out on your own.
