National Hunt jump racing meeting on Boxing Day at Aintree, with the first race at 12:00 and roaming bands.
Boxing Day Racing returns to Aintree Racecourse on Saturday 26 December, one of those fixtures that just feels right when the weather turns cold and the jump season is in full swing. It's a seven-race card that runs from midday through to mid-afternoon, so you've got plenty of time to get there and settle in without having to rush your morning.
The racing kicks off at 12:00 with the William Hill Daily Bet Boosts Mares' Handicap Hurdle, a 2m 4f contest. Half an hour later comes the William Hill Racing Bet Builder Handicap Steeple Chase, also 2m 4f. The 1:05 is the William Hill Formby Novices' Hurdle Grade, another 2m 4f, followed at 1:40 by the William Hill Daily Bet Boosts Handicap Hurdle, which keeps the distance at 2m 4f. The 2:15 is the William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap Steeple Chase, stepping up to 3m 1f, and the 2:50 is the William Hill Extra Places with B.O.G Novices' Handicap Steeple Chase, down to 2m. The day wraps up at 3:25 with the William Hill Keep Your Raceday Positive Open National Hunt Flat Race, 2m 1f.
Between the races, there are roaming bands playing throughout the day, which adds a bit of a party feel to the whole thing. If you're bringing the family, Grandstand and Paddock tickets are free for under-18s, and under-18s race for free at the majority of Jockey Club racedays. The Jockey Club also runs a 'Going Green' programme, which they launched in 2012 to reduce the environmental impact of their business.
