Toddler time session for children aged 0-4 with creative and sensory play, stories and rhymes led by facilitators at the Walker Art Gallery.
Big Art Special: Toddler Time is back at the Walker Art Gallery on Tuesday 20 October, one of the gallery's regular sessions for the little ones. It's aimed at toddlers and pre-schoolers, and it runs for a full hour, so you've got plenty of time to settle in without feeling rushed.
The session is led by facilitators who guide the children through creative play, sensory play, and story and rhyme time. It's designed to support their development through that kind of hands-on, messy, imaginative work, and it sits alongside the usual Big Art activities the gallery has on. Babies are very welcome too, so it works even if you've got more than one small person in tow.
It's worth remembering where you'll be. The Walker Art Gallery holds a collection spanning more than six hundred years, with works by Rubens, Rembrandt, Poussin and Gainsborough. There's a large Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite section, including Rossetti's Dante's Dream alongside Turner, Monet and Holman Hunt, and 20th-century art by Lucien Freud, Bridget Riley and Henry Moore. The gallery also shows the winners of the John Moores Painting Prize, the oldest painting competition in the UK, and houses a Decorative Arts collection of over 500 pieces of ceramics, glass, pottery, fashion and furniture. For younger children, there's Big Art for Little Artists, a dedicated gallery inside the Walker created for children under 8 to enjoy with their grown-ups.
