Artist Social

FACT is hosting Artist Social on Friday 27 November, an informal showcase celebrating the work of their 2026 Digital Artists in Residence. It's an evening of drinks and networking, and the work on display comes from Jessica El Mal, April Martin and Zara Truss-Giles.

The three were part of a residency programme delivered by FACT alongside DaDa, Homotopia and Lucid Games, which supports early-career artists in picking up new skills and pushing their practice in new directions. Throughout the year, they've been based in Studio/Lab, using Unreal Engine as a starting point to experiment with game technologies, digital world-building, movement, sound and interactive storytelling. That's the kind of work you'll see on the night — the results of them spending their time playing with those tools and seeing where they'd lead.

Studio/Lab itself is a large city-centre co-workspace on FACT's top floor, a community of artists, researchers, curators and technologists whose work is critically engaged and digitally focused. It's equipped with video and sound editing suites, new-generation technology, an entry-level immersive kit and digital production tools, and the artist membership includes mentorship, critiques, digital surgeries and professional development. The space was made possible with funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies through the Digital Accelerator Programme and The Foyle Foundation.

The showcase is spread across two floors: Studio/Lab on the third floor and the Studio/Lab Exhibition Wall on the first, so you'll be moving between the two. It starts at 18:00 at FACT, 88 Wood Street, Liverpool L1 4DQ. Entry is free, but you do need to book in advance.
