A daytime indie music party for the over 30s featuring 70s punk, 80s new wave, 90s Britpop and early 2000s indie, with rock n' roll, soul, northern soul and ska.
An Afternoon of Indie comes to The Arts Club on Saturday 17 October, from 3pm to 7pm. It's a daytime indie party for the over-30s, and the line-up for the afternoon is Feeling Gloomy and Old School Indie DJs.
There's a bit of history to the thing. It started when the over-30s indie night Old School Indie teamed up with Feeling Gloomy and Age Against The Machine to put together a daytime version of the club. Since then it's grown into what they call the UK's biggest indie party, staged across 17 cities. The over-30s part isn't just a suggestion, either: there's a strict door policy and no one under 30 gets in, so you'll need to bring ID.
The music runs across the whole indie canon, from 70s punk and 80s new wave to 90s Britpop and early 2000s indie, with rock n' roll, soul, northern soul and ska thrown in. It's a wide net, so you'll hear things from different eras and styles rather than just one particular decade. The DJs keep it going throughout the afternoon, and the whole thing wraps up at 7pm, which leaves the rest of the evening open for a pub session if you're not ready to call it a day.
