Writing Meetup and Social at Crowd of Favours

Crowd of Favours hosts another Writing Meetup and Social on Wednesday 21 October, starting at 18:00. It's a straightforward split: the first half is for writing from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, and the social kicks in from 7:30 onwards.

The Leeds Writing Meetup brings together poets, novelists, screenwriters and even standup comedians, all working on their own chosen projects in the same room. It's open to amateurs and professionals alike, and you bring whatever you're comfortable writing with — a notepad, a laptop, a tablet, or just pen and paper. The first ninety minutes are for getting your head down and focusing on your work, with the social half of the evening there to get to know the other writers around you.

The session is run by Crowd of Favours, the bar on Harper Street near Kirkgate Market, which is also known for an eclectic selection of beers, spirits and cocktails. They run an open mic night too, so there's a performance side to the place as well as the writing side. You'll find the meetup upstairs, round the corner from the bar, just a short walk from the market.

There's no pressure to be there right on the dot — no one is expected to be on time — and it is a requirement to buy something from the venue when you attend. So, if you've got a project you've been meaning to make time for, this is a good way to carve out a block of it and then have a drink with some other writers afterwards.
