Halloween night of 1980s Leeds rock with The Vaynes, The Glorious Ones, The Rose of Avalanche and Billy Masters at the Brudenell.
The Vaynes are back at Brudenell Social Club on Friday 30 October, their first show since they played what was billed as their final gig last year. This one is called VAINGLORIOUS II, and it's being run as a Halloween party. The whole thing comes from the success of Stevie Hulme's VAINGLORIOUS book launch, which brought back a fair few faces from the Leeds rock scene of the 80s and 90s and left a lot of people asking for a repeat. The Vaynes were coaxed out of retirement for this second instalment, and the Halloween theme is a new addition to the format.
They aren't the only ones on the bill. The Rose of Avalanche and Billy Masters of 'Fake' both play, and there's a special line-up called The Glorious Ones, which brings together Stevie Hulme, Dee Dee Glorious, Wolfie, Mark Thompson and Stan Greenwood. That one gathers names from The Vaynes, The Outlaw Cowboys, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Mission, Skeletal Family, Lena Lovich and Mark Rose of Avalanche. MC Irene Bendler of Unstable will be running the night, and the whole thing is presented by JFK, also known as 'Live in Leeds'.
