Free discussion led by Diane Hall about the unsolved 1996 double murder-suicide of the Ainsworth and Ward couples in Cheshire.
Diane Hall is leading a true crime discussion at Crowd of Favours on Tuesday 20 October, as part of the Criminal Activity Yorkshire meet-up group. It's a colloquium rather than a lecture, so the whole point is to get stuck into the details and debate them with other people in the room.
The session centres on the unsolved case of Howard and Bea Ainsworth, an elderly couple found dead in their bedroom in Cheshire in 1996. At the time, police concluded it was a murder-suicide. Three years later, just a few streets away, Donald and Auriel Ward were also found dead in their bedroom, and that, too, was ruled a murder-suicide. The striking similarities between the two scenes have led others to question those original conclusions and to wonder whether both couples could have been victims of the same killer.
If you're not already familiar with the case, the organisers recommend watching ITV's Hunting the Silver Killer documentary before you come along. It'll give you enough of the background to follow the discussion and join in without having to spend the first half hour playing catch-up.

It runs from 17:30 and lasts an hour and a half, so it's a weekday evening thing rather than a late one. It's free to attend, though there's an expectation to buy a drink from the venue while you're there. Crowd of Favours is at 4-12 Harper Street, Leeds LS2 7EA.
