First birthday of Throughlines, the Cardigan Arms songwriters' night, with artists returning with new songs written to a secret prompt across two nights.
Throughlines is celebrating its first birthday at The Cardigan Arms on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November, with two nights of songwriters' music. It's the venue's resident night: the Cardigan Arms invites its favourite artists to write a brand new song based on a secret prompt, a format they describe as part concert, part songwriting experiment. This birthday marks a whole year of the night, and the two-part celebration brings back acts that have taken part over the previous twelve months, each returning to the hotseat with brand new material written to a brand new prompt.
Part 1 on Wednesday 11 features Alice Kim, Araya, CJ Pandit, Elm, George Boomsma, George Harris (Rail Replacement Bus Service), Here's The Steeple, Lizzie Walmsley, Opheliah (solo), The Luca, and tinyumbrellas. Part 2 on Thursday 12 brings Anneka Shelley, Chris Brain, Emily Trease, Gemma Gates, Hirehorse, Kindelan, Marnie Glum, Molly Rymer, Romy Taylor, Slip, Martin, Theo Lear, Wychbury, and Zoe Cure. Both nights are hosted by Harry Orme and engineered by Sol Edwards.
Because every act is working from a fresh prompt, you're hearing songs that didn't exist until this birthday brought them back. It's a bit of a reunion, too: the line-up pulls from the artists who have passed through the night since it started, so if you've followed Throughlines over the year, you'll recognise a good few of these names returning with something new.
