Seasonal cheese and wine tasting evening from the Yorkshire Local Wine School, with cheeses from local cheesemongers and wines from fizz to red.
The Ultimate Cheese and Wine Evening is at St Peter's Hall on Tuesday 3 November, one of the Yorkshire Local Wine School's most popular tastings. It's a two-hour session that brings together the school's favourite pairings, and the line-up changes with the season, so what you get depends on when you book. Past pairings have included Premier Cru Champagne and Langres, Sauternes and Beenleigh Blue, Mendoza Malbec and Killeen, and Rioja Blanco and Comte.
The cheese comes from local specialist cheesemongers, including George & Joseph and The Courtyard Dairy, and the wines run from fizz and sweeties through to whites and reds. It's a guided tasting rather than a free-for-all, with the school's expertise on hand to talk you through why the combinations work. The school itself is part of the Local Wine School Network, which they describe as the world's fastest-growing network of independent wine schools, and they've been featured in the Daily Telegraph and Time Out Magazine.
St Peter's Hall is the school's permanent Leeds home, and it does more than just these one-off evenings. It's where they run their midweek evening classes, WSET qualifications, and guest speaker events, so if you enjoy the night, there's plenty more to pick up there. The hall is at No. 1 St Peter's Hall, 41 The Calls, LS2 7EY, right in the heart of the city.
