Non-profit live music night with the Rock and Jazz Night House Band headlining and local bands opening, with all profits going to Cancer Research UK.
The Rock and Jazz Night House Band are back at Hyde Park Book Club on Monday 26 October, playing in the Book Club Basement. This is the third edition of the night, which runs as a non-profit, locally led evening. The House Band takes the headline slot, with local bands invited to open the show, so you'll get a few different acts across the night rather than just one.
As for what they play, the set covers original numbers, classics and everything in between, with the rock and jazz of the title giving a good sense of the territory. It's a broad enough mix that you don't need to be a specialist in either to enjoy it, and the combination of original material and familiar songs means the set doesn't lean too heavily in one direction.
The night is run by GMfilm, who stage it as a fundraiser: all profits go to Cancer Research UK. They describe the aim as giving people the live music they've been missing while supporting a good cause, so it's a night that works on two levels at once.
