After-hours night at the Thackray Museum of Medicine with unfiltered talks, hands-on crafts and a live DJ exploring self-love and self-care.
Thackray Lates returns to the Thackray Museum of Medicine on Thursday 11 February, with this edition titled No Filter - Love Letters to Melanin. It's part of the museum's after-hours series for adventurous minds and culture-seekers, where each night takes on a new theme and brings together live performances, immersive experiences and special guests. This one is built around self-love and self-care, and the night will feature unfiltered talks, hands-on crafts and a live DJ.
It's also the opening of the museum's Complexion season, which runs from February to June 2027 and focuses on the experiences of people with melanin-rich skin. The whole thing sits within a bigger year for the museum, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027. The Thackray itself opened in 1997 in a former Leeds Union Workhouse building next to St James's University Hospital, a Grade II listed Gothic Victorian structure. Since its 2021 redevelopment, it's been a finalist for Art Fund Museum of the Year and shortlisted for European Museum of the Year.
