Free evening of seasonal storytelling, poetry and song themed around autumn, presented by Moveable Feast Productions.
Stories from the Sofa returns for its October edition at The Barn Coffee Shop on Sunday 18 October, with Matthew Bellwood, Ruth Steinberg and Vickie Orton taking the lead. It's presented by Moveable Feast Productions, and the whole night is built around autumn, harvest, maturity and the long wait for winter.
It's not a single-act bill. The evening mixes storytelling, poetry, song and reminiscence, so you'll hear a range of voices and forms rather than one thing after another. The organisers have set the tone by quoting L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables: 'I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers'. That seasonal thread runs through the whole thing, from the stories to the songs.
On the bill are Matthew Bellwood, Ruth Steinberg and Vickie Orton. They'll be sharing the stage throughout the night, and the session runs for two hours, so there's plenty of room for each of them to work through their material. It's recommended for ages 14 and over.
