Free, drop-in day to design a festive Christmas jumper with materials provided, part of the M&S Archive's family-friendly Sparky Saturdays.
Sparky Saturdays: Christmas Jumper Day is at the M&S Archive on Saturday 12 December, from 10am to 4pm. The whole day is about one thing: designing your own festive Christmas jumper. You can bring your own jumper from home to work on, or use the materials provided on the day, so you don't need to turn up with anything in hand if you'd rather not.
It's part of the Archive's Sparky Saturdays, a series of family-friendly, hands-on activities led by Yorkshire crafters. The Archive itself is housed in the Michael Marks Building on the University of Leeds' Western Campus, just north of the city centre. It brings more than 140 years of M&S history to life through unique artefacts, historic garments, films and photographs, tracing the retailer's journey from a market stall and Penny Bazaar to an international brand. While you're there, you can shop in the Penny Bazaar, try on past fashions in the Design Studio, follow the Percy Trail and watch the archive's film collection in the cinema area.

The exhibition is free and open Monday to Friday and the second Saturday of every month, 10am to 4pm, except on bank holidays. The Christmas Jumper Day falls on that second Saturday in December, so it's a good chance to see the rest of the collection around the crafting. It's free to attend, there's no need to book—you can just drop in—and free light refreshments are included. The M&S Archive is in the Michael Marks Building, University of Leeds, Leeds, LS2 9LP.
