Blues night with Sophie Green and guitarist Alex Oldknow at The Domino Club, an 18+ event.
Sophie Green plays The Domino Club on Wednesday 21 October, with doors opening at 8pm and the music starting at 9pm. It's a night put on by the club itself, and the bill is straightforward: Green on vocals and guitar, joined by guitarist Alex Oldknow.
Green is the frontwoman of the blues band The Sophie Green Band, and that's the context she brings to this one. While the band is her usual outfit, this is a smaller pairing — just her and Oldknow on guitar — so the set will be stripped back to the two of them. It's a different way of hearing her work than when she's fronting the full band, with the focus on the vocals and the guitar lines rather than a full rhythm section.
If you're not familiar with her, she's built her name around the blues, and that's the sound she'll be drawing on here. With Oldknow by her side, the evening will be a conversation between two guitars and her voice, rather than a big band arrangement. It's a more intimate setup than a full band night, and it puts the spotlight on the singing and the playing.
