Silver Birch, billed as the long-lost next chapter of Acoustic Ladyland, plays the Brudenell Social Club with support from Vipertime.
Silver Birch play the Brudenell Social Club on Monday 16 November, with doors opening at 19:30. The night is promoted by DJ Lubi.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because it almost was. Back in 2011, the genre-destroying punk-jazz outfit Acoustic Ladyland planned to re-emerge under the name Silver Birch, but the move never quite happened. Now, fifteen years later, it's the name they're playing under. The music they make spans rock, experimental, jazz and noise, and the set will draw on their new album, High on the Western Hill, which came out on 13 November — just a few days before the gig.
The Brudenell Social Club is in LS6, at 33 Queen's Rd, and it's a community, not-for-profit venue with an open music policy. It was founded in 1913 and runs gigs across two rooms: the original Main Room and the Community Room, which was added in 2017. Beyond the music, it's a social club with a lounge and a games room with snooker, pool tables, darts and table football, serving local cask and craft ales alongside Pieminister pies. Franz Ferdinand, the Kaiser Chiefs and Tom Jones have all played there.

Doors open at 19:30, and the music starts shortly after. It's a Monday night in Headingley, so if you're coming from across town, you've got the games room to kill time in before the set kicks off.
