Live night of post-rock from Manchester trio Shaking Hand with support from Tulpa at Hyde Park Book Club.
Shaking Hand play Hyde Park Book Club on Tuesday 3 November, with Tulpa on the bill. It's a Torn Curtain night, and the music starts at 7:30pm.
Shaking Hand are a Manchester trio who build long, slow-burning post-rock across multiple tunings and time signatures. They draw their inspiration from modernist music, and that comes through in the way they work: the songs aren't built on the usual verse-chorus structure, but on shifting patterns and textures that take their time to unfold. If you're used to post-rock that hits a crescendo and stays there, this is a different approach — it's more about the slow build and the space between the notes.
Having Tulpa on the bill makes it a double, so you'll get two acts in one evening. The night is promoted by Torn Curtain, who've been putting on gigs around the city. Shaking Hand are coming over from Manchester for the date, so it's a bit of a trip for them to play Leeds.
