Live gig by Sean Solomon, former frontman of the Sub Pop band Moaning, at Hyde Park Book Club in Headingley.
Sean Solomon plays Hyde Park Book Club on Monday 2 November, with the night starting at 7:30 pm. It's a solo show, so it's just him on stage.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, there's a reason for that. For a while, Solomon stepped away from the mic and put his Sub Pop-signed band, Moaning, on indefinite hiatus to pursue animation. That move took him into music video work for Run The Jewels, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, CHAI and Odd Future. He's been living in Los Angeles, and it was during the pandemic that he started writing again, this time free from industry expectations. He recorded Car Crash with producer Jarvis Taveniere, who has worked with Whitney, Purple Mountains and Waxahatchee.
He released a live performance video of the song without any fanfare, and it found a massive audience on its own. The chorus features Shannon Lay. This gig is a chance to hear that material live, and to see where he's landed after a few years away from the front of the stage.
