Gustavo Andrade of the Brasukas presents Na CadĂȘncia, a six-piece band of Brazilian samba jazz, at The Domino Club.
Gustavo Andrade brings his latest project, Na CadĂȘncia, to The Domino Club on Friday 13 November. It's a six-piece band, and the music comes straight from Brazil, though it steers clear of the bossa nova and the usual clichĂ©s you've probably heard a thousand times. If you've only ever known Brazilian music as something to have on in the background while you're reading, this is a different beast entirely.
Andrade is also known for his work with the Brasukas, and Na CadĂȘncia carries that same energy. The organiser describes it as a 'power-house of a band', and the whole thing is built around the kind of music that gets you moving rather than just listening. The description promises a night of 'moving, sweating and enjoyment', which gives you a pretty good idea of the room: this is a gig for dancing, not for sitting still.
The Domino Club is at Unit 7 Grand Arcade, LS1 6PG, right in the city centre. Doors open at 18:00, and the live music kicks off at 19:00, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before the band takes the stage. The set runs late into the night, and the listing notes it carries over into Saturday 14 November, so it's a proper night out rather than a quick one in and out.
