Free 14+ night of psychedelic and bedroom-pop music from Saccades, the solo project of Nicholas Wood of The KVB.
Saccades play Brudenell Social Club on Wednesday 4 November, with doors opening at 19:30. It's a solo project from Nicholas Wood, one half of the electronic duo The KVB, and it's a fair way off from the dark, driving soundscapes he's known for there.
He launched Saccades in 2017 with a self-titled debut, trading the heavier textures for stripped-back psychedelic melodies, bedroom-pop intimacy and vintage-inspired songwriting. Since then he's put out Flowing Fades in April 2021 and Land of the Hearth in 2023, and most recently Golden Days, which came out on 2 October 2026. The Brudenell date comes just a few weeks after that one, so the new material will be fresh in the set.
Wood describes his inspirations as coming from crate-digging discoveries of obscure psychedelic and rare soul records from the 1960s and 1970s, alongside contemporary names like Air, Khruangbin, Darkside and Jack J. There's a hauntological feel running through the work, that sense of something familiar but slightly out of time, which fits the stripped-back, melodic side of things he's moved into here.
