Free lantern parade celebrating the local beck, with attendees invited to bring a lantern and wear blue, walking through Gipton to the Old Fire Station.
ReWiggling is a free celebration of the local beck and the life it brings to the community, and it kicks off with a lantern parade through Gipton on Saturday 14 November. The parade starts at Wykebeck Primary at 4:00pm and winds its way through the neighbourhood to the Old Fire Station on Gipton Approach, LS9 6NL, where it finishes up around 5:00pm.
Once the parade reaches the Old Fire Station, the evening carries on with art, music and activities. The whole thing is built around the beck — the local stream that runs through the area — so it's as much about the water and the wildlife it supports as it is about the people who live around it. The organisers describe it as a celebration of the beck and the life it brings to the community, and that's the thread that ties the parade and the activities together.

If you're planning to join in, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. You're invited to bring a lantern along, but if you haven't got one, you can just turn up as you are. They're also asking people to wear blue, so that as the parade moves through Gipton, the crowd looks like a stream of lights flowing through the streets. It's a free event, and the parade runs from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, starting at Wykebeck Primary and ending at the Old Fire Station.
