Pupillage Fair North

The Pupillage Fair North is coming to Leeds Beckett University on Saturday 21 November, from 10am to 3pm. It's the third year the North edition has run, following fairs in Leeds in 2024 and Manchester in 2025, and it's aimed at anyone looking to practise in the North of England. The chambers attending come from Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and beyond, so it's a good place to get a feel for the region's legal landscape in one go.

The day is run by the Northern and North Eastern Circuits, with the support of the Bar Council. The main floor is filled with exhibitors from chambers and AETO representatives, alongside Circuit committees like the Women's Forum, Diversity and Inclusion, and Wellbeing. There are one-to-one CV clinics where practising barristers can look over your application, and seminars throughout the day with guest speakers. There's also a mock court room where you can pick up court etiquette and ethics, and a 'Meet and Greet' area to chat with pupils, barristers and members of the Judiciary about what life on Circuit is actually like.

For context, the Pupillage Fair is the largest recruitment fair run by the Bar of England and Wales, delivered by the Bar Council alongside the Inns of Court and specialist Bar associations. The wider fair is supported by the Inns of Court, which award around £6m in scholarships to aspiring barristers each year, and by specialist bodies like the Chancery Bar Association, founded in 1935. The organisers also run a 'Life at the Bar' webinar series and a becoming-a-barrister hub for those still finding their feet.
