Drop-in pumpkin carving session at the Play Barn of Temple Newsam's Home Farm.
Pumpkin carving is running at Temple Newsam Estate on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October, a couple of days before Halloween. It's a drop-in activity, so you can just turn up when it suits you rather than booking a specific slot.
The carving is part of the Home Farm, which is a working farm and one of the largest rare breed centres in Europe. It's home to breeds native to the UK, like the Vaynol cow, the White Faced Woodland sheep and the Middle White pig, so there's plenty to see beyond the pumpkins. The farm's indoor Play Barn is set inside a restored 100-year-old cow byre and has two play zones, one for toddlers and one for older children, along with a family-friendly café and a gift shop. On weekends, bank holidays and in school holidays, play sessions are limited to 90 minutes, but on weekdays during term time there are no timed sessions. The farm also runs Story Time every Tuesday, dedicated SEND sessions, Home Educator Afternoons and music sessions like Rhythm Time and Baby Band.
