Family day of pumpkin carving and an autumn market at Kirkstall Valley Farm in Leeds.
Kirkstall Valley Farm is hosting its Pumpkin Carving and Autumn Market on Saturday 24 October, with the carving taking centre stage. It's one of those proper autumn things that works best when you're actually out in it, and this one is held at the farm in Leeds.
The pumpkin carving is the main draw, and the autumn market runs alongside it, so you can spend as much or as little time as you like. If you're going with kids, it's a good way to get them stuck into something tactile on a Saturday morning. If you're on your own, it's still a decent excuse to spend a bit of time outdoors and pick up a few things from the market stalls while you're there.
The farm is run by the Kirkstall Valley Development Trust, and the whole day is set up as a community event. It's a local spot, so it's more about the doing than the showing — carving your own pumpkin and browsing the market rather than just looking around. If you've never been to the farm before, it's a good chance to see what they do.
