Live heavy music gig with Portrayal of Guilt, supported by Spike Hellis, Mother Nature and Crest of Grief at BOOM.
Portrayal of Guilt are back at Boom on Saturday 14 November, their first Leeds date since their last visit. They're touring the new album, Beginning of the End, and the set will be built around it. The Austin-based band describes themselves as one of the most uncompromising acts in modern heavy music, and the sound they're bringing over is a collision of hardcore, black metal, screamo and industrial experimentation. It's a lot to fit into one set, and the industrial side usually means a fair bit of electronic noise and mechanical grit working its way into the heavier stuff.
They're not coming alone, and the support is a bit of a mix. Spike Hellis is a Los Angeles-based electronic body music and dark experimental pop duo, formed on Halloween in 2019. That puts them in a different ballpark from the main act — think dancefloor-ready electronics with a dark edge rather than the wall of sound Portrayal of Guilt is known for. Mother Nature is a hardcore act, so they'll be closer to the heavier side of the night. Crest of Grief is also on the bill, making it a four-band run.
