18+ dance night of jazz and broken beat presented by plentyppl at Hope House, with profits donated to the MAP charity.
plentyppl are heading up the M1 to Hope House on Sunday 25 October, their first Northern dance. They're presenting the night themselves, and the music sits in the jazz and broken beat range, so it's a night for dancing rather than standing around. The line-up brings together CasuallyClued, Marvin Jupiter, Juno (4), and REO (UK), with plentyppl taking the lead.
Hope House is known as the home of the Cosmic Slop dance, and that's the context this one fits into. If you're not familiar with the name, it's the kind of night that leans on the dancefloor rather than a stage, and the jazz and broken beat description gives you a good sense of the territory: syncopated, soulful, and built for moving. It's a Sunday night, too, which puts it in a different gear from a Saturday clubber.
There's a bit more to this one than just the music. All profits from the night go to MAP, an alternative education provider that works with young people who can't access the mainstream school system. So your ticket does two things at once: it gets you onto the dancefloor and it supports a charity working with kids who've fallen through the cracks of the school system.
