Live show by Margate psychedelic five-piece Pigeon, led by vocalist Falle Nioke, at the Brudenell Social Club.
Pigeon play Brudenell Social Club on Friday 22 January, their first Leeds date since 2026. They're a psychedelic five-piece from Margate, and the whole thing started as an impromptu post-pub jam session — a loose, fun ethos they say has stayed with them ever since.
Fronting the group is Falle Nioke, a powerful vocalist and lyricist from Guinea, West Africa. The rest of the line-up rounds out with drummer Graham Godfrey, keyboardist Steve Pringle, guitarist and film director Tom Dream, and DJ/producer Josh Ludlow on bass. Between them, they've worked with Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, SAULT and Saul Williams, so there's a fair bit of session experience behind the scenes.
Their sound has shifted over time. After a string of acclaimed EPs that got playlisted on 6Music and slots at UK festivals like Glastonbury, they've moved out of Afro-disco territory into something moodier, laced with krautrock, post-punk and punk-funk. Their debut album, OUTTANATIONAL, is described as a collection of party songs without limits — they've likened it to William Onyeabor in outer space, or early Hot Chip making motorik afrobeat in a 70s New York loft.
