Glasgow outsider pop and theatrical art rock performer Peter Cat plays The Pack Horse on Woodhouse Lane, marking his first visit to Leeds.
Peter Cat plays The Pack Horse on Saturday 17 October, starting at 7:30pm. It's his first time playing in Leeds, and the date is part of a UK tour for his new album, Star Chamber.
Peter Cat is the musical alias of Glasgow songwriter and performer Graham Gillespie. He's built a cult following among fans of outsider pop and theatrical art rock, and he's known for a caustic wit, a cinematic vision and sound worlds that shift from one record to the next. That last bit is a good way to get a handle on what he does: he doesn't stick to one particular groove, and the theatrical side of things usually sits right up front.
Because he's touring Star Chamber, the set will be built around the new material, and this is your first chance to hear it live in Leeds. If you've followed him from Glasgow, you'll know that his live shows tend to lean into the more dramatic, art-rock end of his work, so expect the new songs to be played with a bit of that theatricality rather than just run through as straightforward pop. It's a good night for anyone who likes their songs with a sharp edge and a bit of a scene around them.
