One-day extreme metal festival with headliner Mastiff, plus Acceptance, STILL, Hundred Year Old Man and Iron Altar at Boom Leeds.
Mastiff headline the Obsidian Gathering at Boom on Saturday 24 October, a one-day festival celebrating the extreme metal talent the UK has to offer. They're joined by Hundred Year Old Man, Iron Altar, STILL and Acceptance, so it's a full day of five bands rather than a single night's bill. The whole thing kicks off at 15:00, which gives you plenty of time to work through the line-up before the evening peaks.
Mastiff are a quintet from Hull who call themselves a 'miserable band from a miserable town'. They play a combination of doom, sludge and aggressive hardcore, and they built their reputation playing every dive and shithole in and around East Yorkshire. Since then they've landed support slots with Agnostic Front, Crowbar, Conan and Biohazard. In 2016 they self-released Wrank, an eight-track album recorded and mixed in two days that February. The band is Mike Shepherd on drums, Jim Hodge on vocals, Dan Dolby on bass, and James Lee and Phill Johnson on guitar.
With five bands on the bill, it's a long haul of a day. The Obsidian Gathering is set up as a one-day festival rather than a standard gig, so you'll be in for a fair few hours of extreme metal from start to finish. Mastiff take the top spot, and the rest of the line-up — Hundred Year Old Man, Iron Altar, STILL and Acceptance — fill out the afternoon and evening.
