Alternative night at the co-op venue Wharf Chambers with a live set by Weaklings and four DJs.
NOX VII is on at Wharf Chambers on Friday 23 October, an alternative night with Weaklings taking the main spot and a run of DJs keeping it going. It's a late one, starting at 01:00 and running through into Saturday morning, so it's more of a proper night out than a quick in-and-out gig.
Weaklings lead the bill, and they're joined by DJ Wretchen, Mistress Moss, Nivalis and Death Hippie. With five names on the bill and the night starting in the small hours, the DJs will be doing a good deal of the heavy lifting, stretching the music well into the morning.
If you haven't been before, Wharf Chambers is a bar and venue in the centre of Leeds, run as a workers' co-op together with a members' club as a not-for-profit space for music, art, film, politics and discussion. It sits on the ground floor of a Victorian former pork pie factory on Wharf Street, on the edge of The Calls behind the Corn Exchange. Entry is by membership only: £2 a year or £15 for life, and each member can bring up to three guests. The venue runs a free Radical Lending Library on race, gender, sexuality, queerness, class and radical politics, works to a safer spaces agreement and offers gender-neutral toilets, a wheelchair-accessible cubicle with a baby changer and a permanent hearing loop.
