Free open conversation about artist management and building a music career away from London, presented by The Cat's Mother Network.
Not Just London: Women Powering Music comes to The Attic on Sunday 25 October, part of a wider series that takes the conversation around the music industry out of the capital. It's presented by The Cat's Mother Network, an organisation that supports women, female-identifying and non-binary professionals aged 18 to 30 who want to work behind the scenes in music, and they offer free mentoring as part of what they do.
The evening is set up as an open conversation about artist management. It covers the practical side of breaking into the industry, how to actually develop artists, and the specific challenge of building a career away from London. There's also a focus on navigating the music business as a woman, so it's as much about the personal and political side of the job as it is about the logistics of the role.
If you've ever wondered what artist management looks like from the inside — the day-to-day of working with artists and the long-term view of building a career — this is a good place to hear it talked through. It's not a formal lecture, but an open discussion, and it's aimed at anyone interested in the business side of music rather than the stage.
