Quarterly gathering of the Northern Food & Drink Collective, an open Q&A with Stephen Elliot about retail, pricing and listing.
The Northern Food & Drink Collective brings its Leeds edition to Briggate on Wednesday 21 October, starting at 18:00. It's one of their quarterly gatherings, which they run across the North from Liverpool to Leeds and beyond.
This particular session takes the form of an open Q&A with Stephen Elliot. He spent years buying for Tesco and Co-op before setting up his own consultancy, TAIC Consulting, and the whole thing is built around him answering questions from the room. The brief is wide open: you can ask anything about retail, pricing and listing, so if you're trying to get your product onto shelves, it's a chance to pick the brain of someone who's sat on the other side of the table.
To get a feel for who's running it, the collective was started by Zee Ahmed and Emma Owen as a community for Northern food and drink founders — makers, growers, cooks, brewers, bakers and buyers who help each other and share access to buyers, investors and routes to market. It kicked off with an inaugural event at the Hip Pop office in Manchester, and the branding is credited to Matt and Jenny Lewis. The Leeds edition is one of those quarterly get-togethers they've been holding across the region.
